自己紹介 

バックグラウンド　Background 

私は、生まれも育ちも東京都で、小学校から高校まで公立学校に通ってきました。小さいころから新しいことを学ぶのが好きだったこともあり、学校の勉強が苦ではなく、純粋に授業を楽しんでいた生徒だったように思います。中学・高校では、英語の学習が特に楽しく、大学でも英語を学びたいと思うようになりました。その後、どうせ学ぶのであれば英語を使って世界のことを学んでみたいと考えが変わり、今の学部に入学しました。大学に入った頃は、海外へ行ったことがありませんでしたが、学生のうちに違う環境へ行ってみたいという気持ちがあり、2年生の時に5週間ではありますがフィリピンへ語学研修に行きました。そこでは英語を学びながら、現地の学生と交流したり観光したりさまざまな経験をしましたが、日本とフィリピンの社会や文化の違いを実感し、とても充実した期間でした。このような経験もあり、異なるバックグラウンドを持つ人々の交流ということに興味を持っています。

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and attended public schools from elementary through high school. I think I was a student who genuinely enjoyed my classes, because I did not have a hard time studying at school and loved learning new things from a young age. In junior high and high school, I particularly enjoyed learning English, which led me to want to study English in college as well. Later, I changed my mind and decided that if I was going to learn anyway, I wanted to use English to learn about the world, so I enrolled in my current department. When I entered the university, I had never been abroad, but I wanted to visit a different environment while I was still a student, so I went to the Philippines for language training in my second year for five weeks. While learning English there, I had a variety of experiences such as interacting with local students, sightseeing, etc. It was a very fulfilling time for me, as I realized the differences in society and culture between Japan and the Philippines. This experience made me interested in the interaction between people from different backgrounds.

大学生としての自分　As a University Student 

大学では国際開発学を学んでいて、文化人類学のゼミに所属しています。私は、文化人類学の中でも観光人類学という学問分野に興味があります。特に、観光客が持つ観光地のイメージに対して観光地はどのように対応をするのか、ということに関心を持っています。「文化」という不変に思われるようなものが、実は観光客、言ってしまえば他者という存在によって変化しうることはとても興味深いです。 

　また、サークルでは地域の子供たちに対する学習支援を行っています。ただ学力向上を目指すのではなく、楽しんで勉強をしてもらう手助けを行うことは、私にとっての楽しみになっています。

I am studying international development studies at the university and a member of the cultural anthropology seminar. Within cultural anthropology, I am interested in the discipline of tourism anthropology. In particular, I have an interest in how tourist destinations respond to the image that tourists have of them. It is very interesting to me that something that seems to be constant, “culture,” can actually change depending on the presence of tourists, so to speak, other people.

　In my club, I provide learning support for local children. It is a pleasure for me to help them enjoy their studies, rather than just aiming to improve their academic performance.

インターンを始めたきっかけ　Motivation to start this internship 

大学生のうちにアルバイトとは異なる形で働いてみたいという思いがあり、長期インターンシップを探していました。その中で、観光業に携わってみたかったことと、英語を使う仕事をしてみたかったことが理由で、フォースウェーブでのインターンを始めました。加えて、ウェブサイトの作成や動画編集など、以前は全く縁がなかったスキルを身に付けることができるという点にも魅力を感じました。

I was looking for a long-term internship because I wanted to work in a different way from a part-time job while I was still a university student. I began my internship at 4thWAVE because I wanted to be involved in the tourism industry and work in a job where I could use English. Additionally, I was attracted to the fact that I would be able to learn skills which I had no previous connection to, such as website creation and video editing.

自分の興味・関心　My passion / interest

私は、さまざまな言語に興味があります。大学に入る前は英語しか学んだことがありませんでしたが、第二外国語としてフランス語を学んだことから、ほかの言語も学んでみたいと思うようになりました。そして、語学研修で訪れたフィリピンで話されるフィリピン語や、話者人口の多い中国語も学び始めました。また、オープン講座等や大学の授業を利用して、マレー語とインドネシア語にも触れてきました！言語を通して、その言語が話される地域の文化に触れることができることが楽しみです。まだ、日常会話をするのも難しいレベルではありますが、多様な言語や文化に出会っていきたいです。

I am interested in various languages. Before entering university, I had only studied English, but after learning French as a required compulsory subjects, I became interested in learning other languages. I also began learning Filipino, which is spoken in the Philippines, where I visited for language training, and Chinese, which has a large population of speakers. I have also been exposed to Malay and Indonesian through open lectures and university classes! I enjoy being able to experience the culture of the region where the language is spoken through the language. Although I am still at a level where it is difficult for me to have daily conversations, I would like to encounter a diverse range of languages and cultures.

将来のビジョン　Future vision

私は、リーダーにもサポーターにもなり得る人材になりたいと考えています。私は子どもの頃からクラスや部活のリーダー的な役割につくことが多かったのですが、先頭に立って引っ張るようなリーダーシップは持っていないと感じてきました。しかし、このインターンを通して、働いていく上では、リーダーとしての役割にいないとしても主体的な行動力やマネジメント力が必要だと学びました。そのため、自分も周りもリードする存在になりたいと考えるようになりました。その一方、先頭に立って引っ張るというだけではなく、周りの人の意見や思いに寄り添える存在であるということ、いわば人のサポーターともいえる存在でいることを両立したいと考えています。

I want to be a person who can be both a leader and a supporter. Since childhood, I have often been in leadership roles in my classes and clubs, but I have always felt that I did not have the leadership skills to take the lead. However, through this internship, I have learned that in the workplace, even if we are not in a leadership role, we need to be proactive and have management skills. Therefore, I have come to think that I want to be a person who leads both myself and those around me. On the other hand, I also want to balance being a person who not only takes the lead, but who is also able to stand by the opinions and thoughts of those around me, so to speak, being a supporter of others.
