バックグラウンド/Background

熊本生まれ、東京育ちの桑澤昴です。中学入試で入った学校でのインターナショナルな子との出会いをきっかけに英語に興味を持ち始めました。現在は早稲田大学国際教養学部に在籍しており、様々なバックグラウンドを持つ子たちと幅広い学問を広く浅く学び、視野を広げています。

I’m Subaru Kuwasawa, born in Kumamoto and raised in Tokyo. My interest in English began when I met international students after entering junior high school. I’m currently studying at Waseda University’s School of International Liberal Studies, where I’m broadening my perspective by learning a wide range of subjects alongside students from diverse backgrounds.

インターンシップを始めたきっかけ/The reason why I started the internship

海外旅行に行くのが好きだったり、以前ツアーガイドの仕事をしていたりしたことから、クルーズ業を通して日本と世界を繋いでいる4thWAVEに興味を持ちました。また、2026年の2月からオーストラリアに留学に行くため、日本にいる間にインターンシップを経験し、アルバイトからは得られない経験・スキルを手に入れたいと思い、始めました。

I have always loved traveling abroad, and my previous experience as a tour guide inspired me to take a deeper interest in the cruise industry.
When I learned about 4thWAVE, a company that connects Japan with the world through cruise tourism, I was immediately drawn to its vision.
Since I will be studying abroad in Australia from February in 2026, I wanted to gain valuable experience and practical skills through this internship, something that cannot be obtained from a typical part-time job.

盛者必衰の理由/The reason of  “All good things must come to an end. “

「盛者必衰」とは、勢いのある者もいずれは必ず衰える、という意味の言葉です。一見すると冷たく、少し残酷にも聞こえますが、私はこの言葉が社会の現実を的確に表しているところに惹かれています。
この言葉を意識することで、どんなに順調なときでもおごり高ぶらず、謙虚に生きようという気持ちを持てます。また、もし衰える時が来ても、その現実を落ち着いて受け入れられそうだと感じるため、私の好きな言葉の一つです。

“Jōsha Hissui” means that even those who are at the height of their power will eventually decline. At first glance, it may sound cold or even a bit cruel, but I’m drawn to it because I believe it accurately reflects the realities of society.
By keeping this phrase in mind, I remind myself to stay humble and not become arrogant, even when things are going well. And when the time comes for things to fade, I feel that I’ll be able to accept that reality calmly, which is why this is one of my favorite sayings.

将来のビジョン/Future vision

正直なところ、将来に対する明確なビジョンは定まっていません。ただ、自分が楽しいと思える何かしらの形で社会に貢献したいという気持ちはあります。とにかく「今」やりたいことに集中し、留学先でも色々な経験をしてゆっくり決めていければいいなと思っています。

To be honest, I don’t have a clear vision for my future yet.
However, I have a strong aspiration to contribute to society in a way that allows me to truly enjoy what I do.
For now, I want to focus on what excites me in the present moment, and through various experiences, both in Japan and during my study abroad, I hope to gradually find the path that feels right for me.
