①背景：思春期の留学経験
イギリスでの半年間、アメリカでの4年間の留学経験を通じて、世界中から集まる多国籍の人々と同じ空間で生活することに、心が躍るようになりました。国境を越えた交流は、まったく異なる環境で生きる人々の価値観に触れる貴重な機会だと感じています。留学経験は、私にとって「新しい」景色や考え方を知る楽しさを教えてくれました。
From my experience studying abroad for six months in the UK and four years in the US, I’ve become thrilled by the idea of living in the same space with multinational people from around the world. I feel that interacting with people who have crossed national borders is one of valid opportunities in terms of encountering the different perspectives from mine. My study abroad experiences have taught me the excitement of discovering “new” views and ways of thinking.
②大学の活動：異文化間教育学
大学では、勉強のテーマを日本国内で重要とされる異文化理解に焦点をあてました。具体的には、日本で生活をする外国ルーツをもつ小学生を対象に、教科指導を行ったり、一緒に鬼ごっこやゲームをして遊んでいます。日本語を第二言語とする子供たちにとって、言語の壁や異文化適応の困難等が、ときに精神的にダメージを与える可能性があります。私は、学習支援の枠組みを超えて、子供たちが自己の興味・関心を知り、自ら認知能力や思考能力を養い、社会で活躍する大人に成長できるようには、どのような環境を提供したらよいか、研究しています。
At university, I focused on the theme of cultural studies. I go elementary schools nearby my home once or twice a week to support students who have foreign roots living in Japan. Main task that I am required to do is not only to help them developing Japanese language skill, but also to play games like tag(Oni-goko) with them. For those who speak Japanese as a second language, language barriers and difficulties in adapting to a new culture sometimes cause emotional distress. Beyond the framework of academic support, I am researching how to create an environment that helps children discover their own interests and passions, develop their cognitive and thinking abilities, and grow into adults who can be a part of consumers in society.
③インターンシップをはじめたきっかけ
アメリカの高校では、途上国における貧困問題や資源不足が著しい国のケーススタディーを勉強する時間が多くありました。次第にSDGsの概念を他人事にとらえることはなくなりました。留学から帰京し日本で生活するうえで、社会課題の解決に重きを置く企業はあるか調べたところ、株式会社フォースウェーブと出会いました。
At high school in the United States, I had many opportunities to study case studies on poverty issues and resource shortages in developing countries. Gradually, I stopped viewing the concept of SDGs as something unrelated to me. After returning to Japan and settling back into life here, I researched companies that focus on solving social issues, and that’s when I came across Forcewave Inc.
④将来のビジョン
留学生活での学びや交流と、大学生活での学びを通じて、将来は世界を舞台に仕事をしたいと考えています。新しい場所で新しい人々と出会い、そこでの経験を通じて自分のアイデンティティを築き、さらに自らのライフストーリーを発信していきたいと思っています。
Through the lessons and experiences gained during my study abroad and university life, I aspire to work on a global scale in the future. Meeting new people in new places might be the best way to build my identity. I feel that the identity is not constant ever since the people are physically and mentally well matured at certain age, but to be flexibly changed once the people interact with others from different fields. A core purpose of my future prospect is right behind of this; once again mentioning that meeting new people around the world. To add on this, I I aim to share my life story with others through mass medias with the hope that my experience encourages some people to envision their original future if they lose their way.
